The new floor, in the Rainmaker Casino at Foxwoods, will be sanitized regularly and gamblers will be socially distanced while surrounded by an all older crowd, mimicking the senior hours a lot of supermarkets have adopted during the pandemic.
The floor will be open from 10 a.m. to midnight every weekend in November and will feature a DJ spinning 80s music at night, complimentary cocktails (think: kamikazes), and giveaways with 80s-themed prizes like Rubik’s cubes, leg warmers, and fanny packs.

The Grill at Two Trees: Located at the Two Trees Inn, just a short distance from the casino and accessible by shuttle bus, The Grill is a great choice for ribs, steaks, seafood, salads, sandwiches, and New England comfort food. We normally hit Foxwoods Casino several times a year. We did so again last week. Foxwoods is such a wonderful experience every time. In 1995, Foxwoods added a poker room as well as a high-limit 30 table game area. Because of the casino being located on sacred and sovereign Mashantucket Pequot land, it is not required to comply with the rest of the state’s laws regarding smoking. From the date of its arrival in Connecticut, Foxwoods has never been a smoke-free resort casino. “The safety of our loyal patrons has been our number one priority since reopening... and we are excited to offer them this exclusive experience where they can relax and play in a safe, frequently sanitized environment,” Jason Guyot, Foxwoods’ Interim CEO & SVP of resort operations, said in a statement provided to Travel + Leisure.

Foxwoods Resort Casino reopened in June with capacity limits, temperature checks, and the mandatory wearing of face masks. And while allowed to open, the casino has been forced to draw customers from in and around the state as Connecticut has travel restrictions in place, but exempts New York, New Jersey, and Rhode Island. Many other out-of-state travelers are required to either self-quarantine for 14 days upon arrival or arrive with a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test within 72 hours.

The decision to limit the Foxwoods floor to older adults also comes as gambling capital Las Vegas has continued to struggle during the pandemic with a growing list of Las Vegas Strip hotels turning to midweek closures to survive.
