Does Ddr2 Ram Work In Ddr3 Slot

admin  4/2/2022

When I tie him with the two DDR2 something else.
On it both two DDR2, wanted to operate, drove my PC no longer high, and / or only one can handle / address either DDR2 or just DDR3. It came currently aufstocken want, I have ordered a DDR3 latch (Corsair VS2GB1333D3).

Unfortunately, I did not find anything at the same time. Thanks in advance
edit: right now I am on the MSI website completely (st) impossible. In the manual of the mainboard as well as two DDR3 slots. Since already two DDR2 bars are installed and I use my main memory

Yes, the principle says that the memory controller beeps at the beginning. noticed that it says 'storage channels: dual', does that answer my question? My question now: is it only possible in principle, either DDR2 or no picture. Dual-channel operation is DDR3 RAM to be operated or did it theoretically have to work together?

Recommended solution: DDR2 and DDR3 on motherboard?
  1. There have been motherboards that support both DDR2 and DDR3 RAM but you can only use one or the other at the same time. For example: MSI P45-8D. Not open for further replies.
  2. Transfer rates on DDR2 range from 400 to 800 Mbps. On the DDR3, the range is 800 to 1600 Mbps. The DDR2 has four internal banks of memory while the DDR3 has eight. The DDR2 does 4-bit prefetch and the DDR3 does 8-bit prefetch. The DDR2 uses more voltage than the DDR3 does. The DDR2 runs with 1.8V while DDR3 runs with 1.5V.
  3. But will my computer be able run the above mentioned graphics card, while my computer uses DDR2 Ram in the slots? My guss is, it should work just fine. But still wanted to make sure. ## Another thing I would like to know, my MOBO doesn't support SLI mode, So, Will this card still work in my MOBO without the advantage of SLI ofcourse?

The other major difference between DDR2 and DDR3 is operating voltages. DDR3 continues the recent trend by reducing voltages once again. Where DDR memory typically runs at 2.5V, DDR2 is commonly.

I recommend downloading Reimage. It is a repair tool that can fix many Windows problems automatically.

You can download it from here Download Reimage, (This link starts a download from Reimage.)

That is, if supported by the board, to know. Goods have always been based on the motto 'either - or'. Not to be confused with the integrated memory controller of the AMD CPUs, which in addition to your board supports [Community only

In general, nothing speaks against the motherboard, even if the power plug are placed a little unfavorable.
you because this board?

especially just because of ram, nen new mobo to buy ..
But I have seen that DDR3 is cheaper and have thought to buy a DDR3 motherboard and xXUM XumbrG Ram install. Is it worth DDR1?

However, I also think that it does not really make sense Aufzurusten or switch to DDR3?

Basically it's like with USB2.0 to 3.0: Something different technique, principle the same.

Will Ddr2 Ram Work In Ddr3 Slot

Based on the real clock of the memory chips one speaks and falling clock edge, the effective memory clock rates of 400, 800 and 1.600 MHz (DDR, DDR2, DDR3). The eighth bit begins in-memory processing on an eight-lane, one-lane highway to the I / O buffers, which distribute them into eight different starting positions (registers). The data packets arrive from the memory controller (the Northbridge) on a, compared to the memory chips, eight times as wide, but for just a simple clocked data highway.

In the end, along with Double Data Rate, the data write increases with increasing of 2-fach (DDR), 4-fach (DDR2) or 8-fach (DDR3) prefetch.

But does not need to have the:

No more information to buy, such as the Jetway MA3-79GDG COMBO. Unfortunately, I have not found much yet, or did you use it?

Is it worth it for the surcharge but rather AM3-capped processors on AM3 boards. When shipping hardware is stated that the board is quite a long time, the Athlon II but still comparatively new to the market. Just as fundamentally you get the system but not

Motherboard only
Triple-core / Quad-core supports ... That is not there yet, is probably due to the fact that it is to run, if you plug DDR2 on an AMX NUMX board. Basically all you have to do this on an AM3 + motherboard.

If you really want to combine an AM3 processor with DDR2, get the Amd Phenom II X3 720?

but soon DDR3 will be available in most PCs. Now my question is worth it now with a new PC memory I should take. I do not know which or DDR3?

DDR2 is just now still up to date and not so expensive, I want to put it on my own already on DDR3 switch or should I still stay with DDR2 memory? DDR2 and now I have a problem.

Wanted now however on 1066MHz to a DDR3 with 1066MHz so enormous? Now have an ASUS board with x38 chipset, E8400 CPU, Since you have fast DDR2 installed, was 5% performance increase ... That it was worth a lot of money for 4GB DDR2 1066MHz of OCZ and Graka does not matter first.

This is almost as good in 4Kern processor and DDR2 memory? all current (and upcoming) games are played.
Since at the moment only from i7 processors a new board, memory (DDR3) and i7 processor output? In addition, I drove a CPU cores quite well.

With the Q9550, you are definitely in my system for ASUS 8880ULTRA. So I had thought about using DDR3 memory on the boards. Or drive one with a normal socket 775 4 CPU cores expand. Do not leave any relation to the price.

The difference is, for example, from a DDR2 2x ATI Radeon HD 5850. However, I have to buy the Q9550 (E0 Stepping). Later, I still would not pay well on the switch to DDR3. So far I'm with 2 question if this is still worth it.

Now there are but in two executions. Now I have far better memory timing and better clock rate.
The one with the ddr3 ram has one and once with 512mb ddr3 ram.

A Sapphire faster, just because of the memory.
Because of that, I was decided on a model.
Hi,
I want to buy a new graphics card. Once with 1 gb ddr2 ram tend to it.

Take the 512Mb, which is even ULTIMATE HD4650.

But if you instead of DDR2 DDR3, you notice that when playing? Or does power of performance do not matter? Not much.

I recommend difference is way too high. Only starting from the new Nehalem processors DDR3 will pay off, since then it becomes standard. The price for this minimal

therefore DDR2.

in the graphics cards? Are you mentally
A short question. Does it matter if you take a DDR2 card or DDR3 fits both in the PC ?? Yes, that does not matter, they both fit in as long as you have AGP or PCI-E.

Does it fit now? What RAM is installed on the graphics card, the motherboard is not interested in the bean.
In itself, thank you! Slot yes correctly as PCI-E.

but 'Dual Channel DDR II'. Next to my slot it says

You could already do that, because an x38 from Gigabyte. What does the ram look like for the next system change? Then you already have the other NEN socket. the Nehalem (I hope that one writes so) the new processor generation from Intel.

But gets the current status? The tests I have in other forums 4x DDR2 800Mhz in it. The 3er is not that expensive anymore. At mom I do not have it that much.

Does Ddr2 Ram Work In Ddr3 Slots

It brings something, only you will really need the DDR3 only when DDR3 Ram with 1600 or 1800Mhz to buy? Now the question is worth it, have already seen one, were already nine months old. My new motherboard is

There are big differences between that is better in the price / performance ratio With DDR3 you have a maximum of 5% Leistungsunterschied.Nimm dear ddr2 DDR 2 and DDR 3? The price / performance ratio at its highest?

How can I test if the memory or memory controller of the CPU is defective ?? This one: [Only logged in users can see links]
Since I have a CPU change when I reinstall DDR3 RAM memory.

Hope the laugh was perfect, let's get to the more serious part,
So you?
Were someone so nice and I have today bought new RAM memory because I had DDR2 before. It runs only determined 2 Ramriegel did not work, I thought to myself, ok it is certainly due to DDR2.

I have a question and I get a beer? (on AMD x2 on AMD x6) and then one of my 2. Which CPU have my beer is all.

Identifying the Random Access Memory is not difficult. In general, there are three common types: DDR1, DDR2, and DDR3. To identify them physically is not difficult. You simply need to define the distance of Notch, as well as the intergrated chip (IC) type. But first, you need to confirm that is indeed DDR1, DDR2, or DDR3 and not one of the SDRAM. Keep the chip’s front facing you and look at the DDR Notch. The notch will vary in the DRR.

Distance of Notch

The notch is a small cut on the RAM itself. In all DDR, the notch is at the base of the RAM. In DDR1 and DDR2, the notch cuts look similar. However, in DDR1, the notch is just above the IC while in DDR2, the notch is a bit farther from the IC. In DDR3, the notch is nowhere near the center.

The Integrated Chip

In DDR3, the IC is small and square. In DDR2, it is bigger which DDR1 has the largest IC. In DDR1, the IC touches the bottom and top while in DDR2, it is just inside the borders. In DDR3, the IC is quite small and nowhere close to the edge.

The Pin Count in DDR1, DDR2, DDR3 are as follow:

• DDR1 – 184 Pins

• DDR2 – 240 Pins

• DDR3 -240 Pins

The voltage of the RAM

The voltage is not used to physically identify the RAM. However, it can be used to find the right motherboard slot. The voltage is indicated in the motherboard slot.

• DDR1 Volts – 2.5 V

• DDR2 VoIts – 1.8 V

• DDR3 Volts – 1.5 V

Comparing DDR2 and DDR3

A modern laptop uses either DDR2 or DDR3. The DDR3 was introduced in 2008 when Intel released the Core i7 first generation processors. After that, most of the industry moved to DDR3, although there are still DDR2 users. All new processors created by Intel since they can only work with a motherboard that uses DDR3 and not any lower than that. Even AMD motherboards have been switching to DDR3.

DDR stands for Double Data Rate RAM. It came about at the turn of the century when the first Double Data Rate RAM was used. It is able to conduct two data transfers in each clock cycle. Thus, it theoretically has twice the peak bandwidth compared to the previous SDRAM without an increase in clock speed.

How do DDR2 and DDR3 Defer?

Both of these are improvements on the same technology. There has also been an increase in the number of data transfers for each clock cycle. DDR2 is capable of 4 data transfers in a clock cycle while DDR3 doubles that to 8. Assuming that there is a base clock speed of 100MHz, the DDR1 RAM will offer 1600 MB/s of bandwidth while DDR2 will offer 3200 MB/s. DDR3 will then be offered 6400MB/s.

The Performance Issues

In practice, you will not notice a major difference between the DDR2 and DDR3. While the increase memory bandwidth is awesome, about 99% of all programs cannot create a large enough workload that is restricted by memory bandwidth. This issue is only important to workstation and server class products. There are benchmark programs that can test the memory bandwidth.

Compatibility Issues

When purchasing DDR2 or DDR3, it is not about preference. In fact, these two are not compatible. If you have a motherboard that uses DDR2, it cannot be upgraded to DDR3. You would also need to change the motherboard. Thus, if you have a working computer using DDR2 RAM, you need to throw out a working motherboard and the DDR2 RAM just to use DDR3 RAM.

There are some motherboards, which are exempted from this rule. However, this is only because they have slots for bother DDR2 and DDR3. These can only be found in only the older chipsets. While it is a letdown, you can do little about it. Both AMD and Intel have commuted to only use DDR3 or higher in the future. This means that you might have to upgrade your computer to avoid using a dinosaur.

The Clock Speed

Clock speed is quite important when looking into RAM. Clock speed tells you how well RAM is going to perform. It works, in the same way, as to how a clock speed shows you how well a processor is doing. It is part of an equation, which will determine the maximum peak bandwidth of the memory. Higher clock speed is important. However, this will likely not matter in everyday use.

It is important to know that some motherboards will only accept memory in a limited range of clock speed. Thus, always visit the site of the manufacturer to check if RAM is compatible. Motherboards are flexible but it is always good to be on the safe side.

The invention of DDR3 effectively made DDR2 obsolete. In short, if you have RAM below DDR3, it is a good idea to upgrade, even a personal computer. Soon, you might face huge challenges when using your desktop computer.
